Roscommon Galway TD Claire Kerrane is rejecting claims by the HSE that a consultation process has begun with residents and facilities about the temporary relocation of some people from the Sacred Heart nursing home.
Some residents and relatives have been told this week that fire safety works which have to be carried out mean that a number of residents at two wards in the home will have to be moved elsewhere for 3 months.
Some families say they have very serious concerns about their older relatives and say they don't understand why they would be moved in the middle of the Coivd-19 pandemic.
Deputy Claire Kerrane raised the issue in the Dail today and was told by Tánaiste Leo Varadkar that he would relay her concerns to the Minister for Health:
Speaking on the Let's Talk show this afternoon the Sinn Fein TD says consultation is not taking place in any real sense despite a statement issued by the HSE.
She also says the fundamental issue of moving vulnerable older people to facilities in Castlerea or Ballinasloe in the middle isn't being properly addressed…
