A technical examination is continuing this afternoon at the scene of a fatal bus crash in County Westmeath.
The driver - a 55 year old man - was seriously injured and later pronounced dead at Tullamore hospital.
Emergency services were called the scene of the crash along the old Athlone to Moate road near Killogeenaghan at around 5:30 yesterday evening. It's understood the bus was travelling from Athlone to Drogheda when it collided with a ditch near Killogeenaghan. 20 passengers were onboard at the time with some medically assessed at the scene and others transferred to local hospitals Garda Forensic Collision Investigators arrived at this scene of the crash this morning and it's expected the road will remain closed until 3pm this afternoon. Gardai are appealing for witnesses or any road users with dashcam footage to come forward.
Meanwhile In a statement Stephen Kent, CEO of Bus Éireann said "This is a very sad event, affecting everyone in Bus Éireann.
