A 17-year-old boy has been charged in connection with a serious assault on a Longford town man in Co Westmeath.
The man in his 30s is in a critical condition at Beaumont Hospital in Dublin after being attacked on Grove Street in Mullingar in the early hours of Saturday morning.
Two teenagers were arrested in connection with the incident.

One of them is due before Mullingar District Court this morning.
The second who is also 17 years old has been released without charge and a file is being prepared for the DPP.
