Tenders are being sought for the next step in the future of Connolly Barracks in Longford. The council are seeking a contractor to progress the renovation and redevelopment of the former site as a museum and Cultural/Community Centre. The project received close to €200,000 in funding from the Town Centre First Heritage Revival Scheme.
The funds aim to allow local authorities and the public to reimagine and revitalise town centres through the renovation and reuse of publicly owned vacant or derelict heritage buildings. The Connolly Barracks plan includes a new county museum as a key element of the plan, as Longford has been without such a facility for a number of years. Tenders will close on the 25th of July.
