The Granard Community Enterprise Group are still waiting for tenders to be approved that will allow the beginning of the Norman Heritage Park.
The multi-million euro tourism project went out to tender in November of last year, but it's understood there have been ongoing delays in having a tender approved due to costings.
The development was granted several planning permissions in recent years and will involve a replica of several Noman buildings and attractions showing how people lived on the site in the 12th and 13 centuries.
Padraig McNamara, is treasurer of the Granard Community Enterprise Group which has worked to bring the project to reality for over a decade.
He says they are very grateful for the support of Longford Council and local politicians over the years but they need to see more progress on the current phase of the project.
''I thank the council for what they've done to date but we need to see the project finished, we're 10-11 years into the project, we work well together, we are good team players but you cant do it on your own. We need the assistance of Longford County Council and the Municipal District and we are very thankful to them for what they've done to date but please make the difference for us, make it happen. We're waiting for instruction from the quantity surveyor which we hope to have by the middle June, we've been told dates before and they've been pushed out.''
