Tenders are being sought for works on a historical building in East Galway.
The popular Town Hall Theatre in Ballinasloe boasts a 400-seat auditorium and was built as an Agricultural Hall in 1842.
Planned improvements works for the building include the replacement of windows and doors, the installation of indoor stage lighting as well as repairing and repointing stone work.
Director of the theatre Alan Harney hopes this will improve the energy efficiency of the building as well as bring spaces back into use.
Closing dates for tender responses is May 7th and Alan hopes works can progress in the Summer.
"The windows and doors in place at the moment are not very sympathetic to the overall structure and aren't a replica of what would've been there originally. We're hoping to install new timber, double-glazed sash windows and new doors. A voluntary committee took over the running of the building approximately 10 years ago so since that time a huge amount of works have gone on in the building including the replacement of the roof, new public toilets, and recently we completed a full refurbishment f the foyer in the building".
