Tension builds as Fine Gaels Sligo-Leitrim convention takes place tonight

Two former junior ministers will go head to head in Fine Gael's selection convention for Sligo-Leitrim tonight. Sitting TD Frank Feighan, from Boyle, and John Perry, from Ballymote, have both been nominated - along with Sligo councillor Thomas Walsh.

The convention takes place in the Clayton Hotel in Sligo town at 6 o'clock this evening. Over 800 party members are eligible to vote, and it's expected only one candidate will be chosen on the night.
