Well over 400 people attended a protest in Ballaghaderreen yesterday evening, after a teenage boy was seriously assaulted in the town last Friday morning.
Many speakers called for more gardai to be urgently sent to the town.
Tensions run high outside the garda barracks in Ballaghaderreen, after around 430 people made their way from St Nathy's Cathedral car park at the other end of town, in a candle-lit vigil.
Ballaghaderreen Concerned Citizens organised this protest after the teenager was attacked in the town last Friday morning.
But it was merely the final straw, says local councillor Micheál Frain:
