The annual Oliver Goldsmith Festival is taking place in Longford over this Bank Holiday weekend.
The event takes place in a number of venues across the country, including the writer's birthplace at Pallas, and at The Three Jolly Pigeons in Tang.
This year's festival has a tourism theme and guest speakers include Dara Feighery from Center Parcs in Ballymahon, as well as Damien McWeeney, who is leading the tourism masterplan for the River Shannon.
A family day will take place at Skelly's courtyard in Ballymahon on Saturday afternoon as part of this year's festival.
Chairman Arthur Conlon says they want to broaden the appeal of the event.
