Outgoing Sligo-Leitrim TD Marc McSharry says his 22 years as an Oireachtas member was a 'frustrating privilege'.
McSharry, who announced he wouldn't be contesting the forthcoming election last year, was reflecting on his final day in Dáil Éireann yesterday.
A son of former Tánaiste and EU Commissioner, Ray McSharry, Marc was elected to Seanad Éireann on three occasions between 2002 and 2016.
The former Fianna Fáil TD was elected to Dáil Éireann in 2016 and won re-election in 2020 before resigning from the party in 2022 over its handling of a complaint made against him.
