The ESB says technicians from Austria, Finland, France, Britain, Germany and Norway are on the ground, helping to restore connections in the worst affected areas.

Thousands of homes, farms and businesses across the Shannonside region are still without power this morning. The ESB says technicians from Austria, Finland, France, Britain, Germany and Norway are on the ground, helping to restore connections in the worst affected areas. Roscommon and Leitrim remain two of the most affected counties in the country with power outages also still being reported in Longford. Parts of West Roscommon still have no electricity this morning in the likes of Castlerea, Frenchpark, Ballaghaderreen and Ballinlough. North Roscommon is also still impacted with locations on the outskirts of Boyle Town still without power and parts of Arigna are also affected.

In Co. Leitrim, many still remain without power due to Storm Éowyn. Ballinamore, Mohill, Carrigallen and Corrawallen are some of the worst affected areas this morning. The situation continues to improve in Co. Longford however there are still widespread outages being reported. Ballinalee, Legan and parts of Mullinalaghta are some of the places in the county that remain impacted following the storm.

The ESB is now estimating many Shannonside homes and businesses won't have their power back until Sunday night. The company says these are the areas with the largest number of faults. They include Fine Gael councillor Gareth Scahill, who lives between Castlerea and Ballinlough:
