The head of the HSE says they've been "blown away" by the attendance seen at walk-in vaccine centres yesterday.
The comment comes as Ireland overtook the UK in the vaccine rollout, with 72.4 per of adults now fully vaccinated here.
Multiple centres across the country reported strong attendance at the walk-ins clinics, with many young people queuing up to receive their first vaccine.
CEO of the HSE Paul Reid, says they didn't know what to expect from the first day of walk in centres.
Today locally, Roscommon vaccination centre are offering walk-ins from 11am until 4pm, Athlone Institute of Technology are also offering walk-ins from 9am until 7pm and in Sligo walk-ins are available from 10am until 2pm.
It’s ‘Walk-in Weekend’ !!
Great to see the lines forming already outside walk-in vaccination clinics right across the country (at least one in every county).Walk-in vaccination available for those (aged 16 years & older) yet to receive a first dose:https://t.co/wqTDa1HB7E pic.twitter.com/O8zd3tD9oT

Weve been "blown away" by attendances at walk in clinics. Young people in Ireland have been to the fore of changing this country for the better. Now they've come out in numbers to protect themselves & us. And we're now ahead of the UK for % of adults fully vaccinated! @HSELive
