Thousands of homes and businesses remain without power across the Shannonside region this morning. Emergency teams are again working to renew power and water supplies around the country in the aftermath of Storm Éowyn. In Roscommon, over 12-hundred premises remain without power while estimated restoration times range from tomorrow evening to February 4th in some places. There are over 1,000 premises without power in the Castlerea area, where water supplies have also been badly affected. The Boyle area has around 1,000 without electricity while there are over 800 in Rooskey awaiting full restoration. 700 premises are without power in Athlone while there over 400 still awaiting restoration in the Ballinasloe area.
In Longford, there are over 1,500 people still without electricity for the sixth day. Ballymahon has around 300 homes still waiting for power to be restored while Edgeworthstown has over 400 premises affected. In County Leitrim, there are around 2,600 homes without electricity in Mohill and 700 affected in Carrick-on-Shannon.
Meanwhile, An Post says a number of local post offices are back open following Storm Éowyn. In Leitrim, Drumlish, Ballinamore, Carrick-on-Shannon post offices are open as are Drumkeeran and Mohill. Dowra, however, remains closed due to a power outage. Kenagh and Ballinalee Post Offices are open in Longford but An Post says Lanesboro remains closed. In Roscommon, Drummullin, Ballyfarnon and Knockcroghery remain closed while Frenchpark, Elphin, and Arigna are open.
