The threat of strike action remains at an intellectual disabilities service in Longford after over 60% of staff rejected a proposal by the Workplace Relations Commission. Around two thirds of staff voted against a WRC recommendation last week regarding concerns around incremental payments. It follows a decision to postpone a work-to-rule demonstration last month ahead of further talks with the WRC. A spokesperson for the Forsa trade union, which represents staff, says they will meet with members again on Tuesday evening.
Former Vita House Roscommon Director Marian Keigher was officially appointed to replace CEO Des Scanlon last Friday after he stepped down from the role. Local councillor Uruemu Adejimni, who is on the board at St Christopher's, says board members will continue to engage with staff and service users.
