Local Gardaí are warning motorists to drive with care following a number of serious traffic violations over the last number of days.
Longford Roads Policing Unit arrested the driver of a vehicle traveling almost 70 kilometers over the speed limit yesterday morning on the N5.
The motorist was arrested after Gardaí recorded him driving at 169 km per hour.
Another motorist was taken into custody in the town following testing positive for cannabis during a traffic stop.
Another stop near the town say the driver of a car issued a fixed noticed penalty charge after they were clocked at 133 km per hour in a 100 km zone.
Meanwhile In Westmeath, local Gardaí arrested a motorist after he was recorded driving at 161 KM per hour.
The driver subsequently tested positive for cocaine and was arrested for drug driving.
Gardaí are appealing to the public to consider the consequences of driving under the influence and the danger of speeding.
