Three candidates have been elected in the Athlone local electoral area on the first count.
The count is currently taking place at the Hyde Centre in Roscommon. Independent candidate, Emer Kelly topped the poll and exceeded the quota of 1,403 at 1,946 votes.
Kelly is followed by Independent candidate Tony Ward, who obtained 1,786 votes. Whereas, John Naughten of Fine Gael also exceeded the quota with 1,750 votes.
