New funding announced for 5 local towns couldn't come at a better time according to the President of the Carrick on Shannon Chamber of Commerce.
Minister Heather Humphreys, has today announced 2.6 million euro in funding to deliver the first ever Town Centre First Plans, which will be key to revitalising town centres.
Each local authority will now work closely with local community groups, retailers and the Town Teams in devising and delivering on the objectives of their respective masterplans.
Minister Humphreys is hopeful the Plans will be central to addressing vacancy and dereliction in these locations.
In the Shannonside Region, Carrick-on-Shannon in Leitrim, Strokestown in Roscommon and Longford Town have been selected.
Speaking to Shannonside Northern Sound, Carrick on Shannon Chamber President Colm McGrath says the funding will help plans to draw footfall to the town.
