Three towns across the region are to receive €100,000 each as part of new rural regeneration funding.
The streetscape Enhancement Initiative will help towns to improve the face of their buildings, carry out artwork or install features such as street furniture or canopies.
2.6 million euro was announced today by Minister for Rural and Community Development, Heather Humphreys for a town in each of the 26 counties.
Property owners and retailers can apply for a grant from the funding through their local authority.
Granard in Longford has been selected locally along with Carrick on Shannon in Leitrim.
In Roscommon, Ballinlough is to benefit from the funding.
Speaking to Shannonside Northern Sound today, Minister Humphreys has welcomed the initiative saying it make people more welcome when coming into local towns and bring colour to towns right across the country.
