Three significant projects in County Roscommon have been given the green light by Councillors at a special meeting this afternoon.
13 new homes, the development of a major new amenity in Castlerea as well as a special car parking area on the shore of Lough Ree have all been approved by Roscommon Municipal District members.
Three-part 8 planning applications required the seal of approval from Councillors of the Roscommon M.D at an online meeting of the elected representatives.
The first project approved was a new housing development at Ardnanagh which will see 11 new homes developed as well as a conversion of another unit to 2 apartments at two adjacent sites.
The meeting heard the project will contribute to the renewal and regeneration of the area and Roads Department in the Council is seeking one special condition that would see the link road between St Teresa's Road and The Pines be reduced to 5.5metres in width and pedestrian crossings should be developed at the other end of the road.
A major project at Somers Park in Castlerea which will see the development of a performance space and permanent seating as well as various landscaping efforts was also given approval unanimously by the elected members.
The final project to get signed off officially as a Part 8 scheme was a special car and boat trailer parking area at Lackan in Portunny on the banks of Lough Ree.
It's hoped the development will allow easier access to the busy waterway and will also include updates to footpaths and improved public lighting and perimeter fencing.
