Appearing via video link yesterday before Judge Bernadette Owens at Longford District Court, the three men were further remanded to a sitting on the 17th of Decemeber, where DPP directions are expected.

Three men charged in connection with a stabbing in Longford Town in October will appear again in court later this month. The incident on Thursday morning the 10th of October saw Patrick Stokes allegedly assaulted in the Deanscurragh area receiving a number of injuries including a stab wound that resulted in him being airlifted to hospital in Dublin for emergency surgery. David Joyce and his wife Winnie Keenan, both of 35 Palace Crescent, Ardnacassa originally appeared in Court following the incident with Martin Keenan of 81 Ardnacassa Avenue and John Keenan of 37 Palace Crescent Longford also appearing in court. During the course of the investigation into the public disorder, Gardaí recovered a number of items such as slash hooks, a machete, shovels and a samurai sword. David Joyce, Martin Keenan and John Keenan were all remanded in custody following their arrests and are currently being held at Castlerea Prison.

Breege Mimnagh representing John Keenan requested an update on the accused's car which is still held by an Garda Siochána. The court heard that the defendant's family were requesting the return of the car as Mr Keenan's wife and children were 'lost without it'. Breege Mimnagh requested an update on the vehicle and stated a formal police property application would be lodged at the next court sitting should the response not be satisfactory.
