Fianna Fáil, Fine Gael and Independents are likely to have control of Roscommon County Council for the next five years.
Talks are taking place to see who will power in the chamber after the local elections.
In the last term of Roscommon council, there was a partnership between Fianna Fáil, Fine Gael and Independents.
The same is likely on this occasion as the overall landscape did not change much after last Friday's elections.
Fianna Fáil won five seats, Fine Gael won four, Sinn Fein and Independent Ireland both have one, and there are seven Independents.
Discussions will take place over the next 10 days to see if a coalition deal can be reached.
Independent Tom Crosby, from Tarmonbarry, explains how these discussions normally take place.
The first meeting of the new Roscommon council takes place on Friday week, when the new cathaoirleach and leas-cathaoirleach will be elected.
The cathaoirleach's position includes an allowance of €20,000.
Positions on various committees will also be agreed, but Councillor Crosby says money is not a motivating factor here.
