Three percent of cattle tested for Tuberculosis in the Shannonside Region last year returned a positive result.
8,349 of the region's 10,550 cattle herds were tested for Bovine Tuberculosis between July and September in Longford, Leitrim and Roscommon.
Bovine Tuberculosis is a highly infectious disease of cattle which can also infect and cause disease in many other mammals including humans.
According to the CSO, Longford recorded the highest incidence rate of the disease, with 4 percent of tested cattle returning positive results.
Over 2,300 herds were tested in Leitrim in Quarter 3 of 2022, with an incidence rate of 2.8 percent recorded.
While in Roscommon, the positivity rate was found to be almost 2 percent, with 4,300 of the county's 5,300 cattle herds tested.
Nationally, the incidence rate stands at 4.8 percent, with over 85,000 herds tested.
