The continued refusal of TII to meet with councillors from the Athlone region over road safety issues has been met with fresh criticism.
Last month Transport Infrastructure Ireland refused to meet with local representatives about concerns facing the N61 and other routes.
In a letter to the Municipal District branded a 'contemptuous reply' by one councillor, TII stated they do not meet with MDs and can only accept an invite issued by the full plenary council.
At this month's meeting of Roscommon County Council, all six councillors from the district submitted a joint motion seeking the council to invite a delegation from the state agency.
The motion was unanimously passed, with several councillors registering their displeasure and disappointment over TII's procedures.
In responding to councillors complaints, Director of Services Shane Tiernan urged councillors to balance the argument and remember the significant improvements implemented by Transport Infrastructure Ireland to the region.
Speaking to Shannonside Northern Sound news, local councillor John Naughton says stretches of the N61 are in need of rapid safety works.
