An inspection carried out at a Westmeath nursing home has complemented it's pleasant and peaceful atmosphere.
The HIQA report on Portiuncula Nursing Home was published earlier this week
Portiuncula Nursing Home is a purpose built two- storey facility located in Multyfarnham Village, close to Mullingar town and run by Newbrook Nursing Home company
The centre provides long term 24 hour care, and short term convalescence and respite care to a range of male and female residents over 18 years of age with dementia, intellectual disability, acquired brain injury and palliative care needs.
On the day of inspection in May of this year, there were 53 residents present in the centre.
Residents who spoke with the inspector said the staff were attentive and caring and that the home is a nice place to live and they would recommend it.
They described attending mass in the Friary church accompanied by staff and also added that their days were 'well-filled' with activities.
Inspectors found the atmosphere of the centre to be pleasant and peaceful overall
The Multyfarnham based nursing home was found to be compliant or substantially compliant in all areas of inspection including Quality and Safety, Training and Staff Development, and Governance and Management
Some small improvements in the area of infection control were noted but these, according to the report, did not detract from the level of care provided
