A Co Roscommon woman has arrived home to Ireland after her travel ban in Dubai was lifted yesterday. Ballaghaderreen native Tori Towey was detained there after being charged with attempted suicide and alcohol consumption, after escaping an alleged attack by her husband. The Irish government intervened and she is now allowed to return home, with the charges against her also dropped.
Irish Embassy staff put Tori on an Emirates flight early this morning, with the flight landing at Dublin Airport just after 12 noon. Her family, friends and supporters traveled to Dublin Airport to welcome her home.
