A local councillor has described interim solutions for the lack of parking spaces available at Roscommon University Hospital as 'totally inadequate.'
Councillor Gareth Scahill raised the issue with the HSE West Regional Health Forum.
The lack of parking has been forcing patients of an older age demographic, as well as those with mobility issues, to walk the distance from the available spaces at the Hyde Centre to the hospital.
Following a meeting, Saolta acknowledged the problem and a spokesperson confirmed a spatial plan is being considered, which would create barriered areas and generate only 20 new spaces.
