A local tourist provider says businesses need to form a network in order to maximise visitors to the region.
Local chef and farmer, Fiona Egan runs Cloughan Farm & Cookery School in South Longford.
As tourism season approaches, the cookery school owner is urging all tourist providers, especially those close to greenways, canals and walkways to work together to tailor their offerings to local infrastructure or campaigns.
Speaking to Shannonside FM news, Fiona says new and established businesses can make major strides by connecting through local enterprise and tourism offices.
She believes the Shannonside region can become a tourism hot spot.
'This is very new to us, tourism wouldn't be the dominant industry here, as it is down the south of Ireland.
So this is very new to us, we're all learning , and so it's important to have that support and that network there around us.
I am very confident going forward in the future between the Royal Canal greenway, the National Famine Way, that this is going to be a game changer here in the midlands for us.'
