Efforts are underway to ensure there’s Christmas spirit in Roscommon towns and villages this year.
Roscommon County Council is to make some funding available to area that have not received any funding this year for Christmas lights.
The money is being redirected from expenses that might have been incurred by councillors attending conferences which are not being approved or are taking place online.

The application process will be outlined to local representatives later this week.
A campaign will also get underway to promote shopping in local towns and villages this Christmas or online with local business to ensure their viability going forward.
