Leitrim County Council is open to talking to traders on a section of Main Street in Carrick who would like to expand or use more outdoor space during the weekends.
Director of Services Joe Gilhooly says the local authority is co-operating in trying to help traders make the best use of their space right around the county.
Speaking about the pedestrian plans for a portion of Main Street which begin this weekend , Joe Gilhooly says the scheme does lend itself to some more flexibility for traders.
He says while the area will still have to be available to allow some vehicle access, the council will do it's best to help traders make the most of the space.
