A south Longford traders association is raising serious concerns over proposed streetscape works in Ballymahon.
The group has organised a public meeting on the issue which will take place next week.
In a post on social media last night the Ballymahon Traders Association claims proposed changes will cause serious parking issues as well as traffic delays for those who live, work or pass through the town.
They say while Ballymahon deserves an updated streetscape it should not be to the detriment of the local community or businesses.
Concerns highlighted by the association include the removal of 100 car parking spaces, the introduction of traffic lights at two locations as well as the removal of a feeder lane from the bridge to the Athlone road.
A 3 meter wide cycleway from the bridge to the library is also planned for.
The traders group believes locals must have a say in the future of the town and a public meeting has now been called.
It will take place on Wednesday April 5th in Cooney's Hotel Ballymahon at 7:30pm.
