A monument will be unveiled in Ballinamore tomorrow to honour two men killed during the Don Tidey kidnap 41 years ago.
Private Patrick Kelly and Garda recruit Gary Sheehan were shot dead by the IRA, during the rescue of the Quinnsworth chief executive in Derrada Wood.
To facilitate the event, a number of parking restrictions and diversions will be put in place from 4pm today, Sunday, 15th December to 4 p.m. tomorrow.
Today, there will be no parking between St Patrick's Church on Main Street and Ballinamore Garda Station on the R202 and no parking in The Town Square car park opposite the Garda Station. All other on-street parking in Ballinamore is unaffected.
From 10 a.m. until approximately 1.30 p.m. on Monday 16th December, a diversion will be in place at the junction of the bridge in Ballinamore R202 at Super Valu.
Traffic will be diverted away from the town centre via the Ballinamore Bypass to the R199. This diversion will also operate in the opposite direction.
From 8.30 a.m. until approximately 2.30 p.m. that day, there will be a stop/go system in place on the R202 outside the Garda Station, followed by a complete closure of this road from 12.15 p.m. until approximately 2.30 p.m.
Traffic coming into Ballinamore travelling on the R202 past Ballinamore Garda Station will be rerouted on the R202 onto the L1371 at Lissacarn via Aughawillan Church and joining the R199 to continue into Ballinamore.
A diversion for Heavy Goods Vehicles will be in place from 9 a.m. on Monday until approximately 4 p.m.
HGV traffic travelling from Ballinamore to Enniskillen will be diverted along the R199 via Ballyconnell to Enniskillen, while HGV traffic travelling from Enniskillen/Swanlinbar to Ballinamore will be diverted at Derrynacreeve Junction on the N87 via Ballyconnell to Ballinamore. All diversions will be signposted.
