The trial of the four men accused of the false imprisonment and assault of Kevin Lunney will begin before the Special Criminal Court this morning.
It had been due to begin on Monday but legal argument over whether or not the case should be heard before that Court led to a delay.
It yesterday rejected the case put forward by Defence Counsel and it will begin hearing the case later this morning.
Four men, 67 year old Luke O'Reilly of Mullahoran Lower, Kilcogy, Co Cavan, 27 year old Darren Redmond from Caledon Road, East Wall, Dublin 3, 40 year old Alan O'Brien of Shelmalier Road, East Wall, Dublin 3 and a fourth accused man who can't be named are all charged with false imprisonment and causing serious harm to Mr Lunney.
It's alleged the offences took place at Drumbrade, Ballinagh, Co Cavan on September 17, 2019.
The trial is expected to last 12 weeks before the three-judge, non-jury court.
