Described as a "pure gentleman with a generous heart", Tom was a well-respected local figure having served his community for many years.

Tributes have been paid to Tom Smyth, the well-known face of Smyth's Funeral Directors in Roscommon Town, who has passed away at the age of 90.

In a statement, Smyth's Funeral Directors expressed deep gratitude for the support and kindness shown to him throughout his career.

Tom will be reposing at the family funeral home in Roscommon this evening, from 4 o'clock until half 6.

His funeral will take place on Monday morning at 11 o'clock at the Sacred Heart Church, Roscommon with burial afterwards in St. Coman's Cemetry.

Speaking to Shannonside Northern Sound News, Cllr Marty McDermott said Tom was a magnificent businessman who will be greatly missed.
