Tributes are being paid to a former Roscommon footballer who has died while aged in his mid-50s.
Martin Fallon, a community activist and paramedic, passed away suddenly in the early hours of this morning.
The Strokestown man leaves behind a devastated family, including his wife, Ann, and two children, Jack and Amy.
Strokestown GAA said: "We are deeply saddened by the sudden and devastating passing of Martin ‘Fizzy’ Fallon.
"Fozzy was a true legend of the Black and Amber, and he will be sorely missed by everyone in the club and the wider Strokestown community.
"Everyone at Strokestown GAA extends their deepest sympathies to Ann, Jack, Amy and the extended Fallon family.
"As a mark of respect, all club activities are suspended this weekend.
"While we are all still coming to terms with this very sad news, we will be holding a gathering tomorrow evening, Saturday, at 6pm at the club grounds. We would ask everyone to please wear some Strokestown club colours and to bring a candle."
Local senator Eugene Murphy says his death has deeply saddened people.
Local councillor Sean Moylan has also been paying tribute.
