Tributes are being paid to local senator and former TD John Connor following his sudden passing yesterday evening.
John Connor rose to prominence in the late 70s and early 80s, serving as Teachta Dála and as a Fine Gael councillor in Roscommon.
The politician is remembered for his remarkable oratory skills and his constant involvement in local politics even after his retirement.
Councillor Tom Crosby is one of many expressing their condolences following the senator's passing, saying that "John's word was his bond."
The councillor also shared that the former TD had been looking forward to traveling to a number of countries in February, and that he had a passion for absorbing different cultures.
