Tributes have been paid to a local Garda superintendent who is retiring shortly.
At the most recent meeting of the Roscommon Joint Policing Committee, Superintendent Fran Nicholson was honoured for his 41 years service to An Garda Síochána.
The Cornafulla native became District Superintendent in 2015 as well as being an instructor at the Garda College in Templemore.
Members of the JPC including Councillors John Cummins and Kathleen Shanagher as well as Community Representative, Bernie Kearney all paid tribute to the Superintendent's commitment to policing in the region.
Mr Nicholson was presented with a token of appreciation and thanked everyone for the good wishes.
He will retire from the force on April 14th
