Tributes have been pouring in for a much-loved parish priest.
Reverend Michael Campbell died on Friday, 30th of August at Drumderrig House Nursing Home, Boyle.
The Abbeylara Parish Priest was formerly a curate in Carrick-on-Shannon, Co. Leitrim, and Ferbane, Co. Offaly.
The priest has been described as a "powerhouse for community development" and a "gentleman" by locals on social media.
Longford councillor, Padraig McNamara, praised the priest's work and his commitment to the community:
Fr. Michael Campbell's removal will take place on Tuesday evening from his residence at Cloonohill, Drumlish, leaving at 5.40pm to St. Bernard's Church, Abbeylara for prayers at seven o'clock. Funeral Mass on Wednesday at twelve noon with burial afterwards in local cemetery. Donations if desired to Parkinson's Association of Ireland.
