The Management at the Midlands Regional Hospital in Mullingar has implemented special measures to try and deal with a large influx of patients in the last 24 hours.
The hospital's Emergency Department has been described as "very busy" after the admittance of a lot of seriously ill patients with a variety of complex healthcare needs.
Consultants are doing additional ward rounds to facilitate discharges and hospital management is asking the public to keep our ED services for the patients who need them most.
According to the INMO's trolley watch, twenty people are waiting at the Emergency Department today - with twenty-two at Sligo University Hospital.
