A file is to be prepared for the DPP after the arrest of two men in connection with an incident in Kiltoom, Roscommon, last month.
Gardai from the Athlone and Roscommon District Detective Unit searched a house in Athlone on Easter Monday as part of investigations into the incident on March 25th when a vehicle saw blue lights behind them and believing it was Gardaí, pulled over on the N61.
However, as two people approached the driver of the car, they realised it was not Gardai, and they left the scene.
The incident was described as 'sinister' by local investigators at the time but no gun or threats were made to the driver of the vehicle.
It's understood that following the search on Monday, imitation firearms were discovered at the property in Athlone as well as other items and the men were brought to Athlone garda station for questioning and have since been released without charge.
A file is to be sent to the DPP to examine if charges are to be pursued and investigations are ongoing.
