West Cork Club’s Ballinscarthy GAA and Argideen Rangers have both paused activity to comply with HSE requirements due to a suspected Covid-19 case.

West Cork Club’s Ballinscarthy GAA and Argideen Rangers have both paused activity to comply with HSE requirements due to a suspected Covid-19 case.

Last night a statement issued on facebook by Argideen Rangers read "This is a precautionary measure and is because a number of club members have told us that they may have been in contact with a person subsequently confirmed to have Covid-19.”

"We in Argideen Rangers GAA feel it sensible and prudent to ensure to temporarily suspend both underage and adult group activities. We understand that anyone identified by Public Health authorities as a close contact will be tested for Covid-19.

Ballinascarthy GAA club posted on their facebook page this morning, “To all Ballinascarthy GAA and Camogie Club members, please note that collective team training at all grades is temporarily suspended to comply with HSE public health advice and guidance from Croke Park on contact tracing protocols.”

“This decision is taken to ensure the continued safety of all members of the Ballinascarthy community and will be reviewed again early next week. “

“We continue to advise all members to adhere to HSE social distancing, hand hygiene and cough etiquette guidance.”

The Irish Examiner are reporting that a number of clubs in Cork GAA’s Carbery division have been told to suspend activities as a result of a potential Covid-19 case.

The GAA is expected to give more guidance this weekend around return-to-play protocols as club games recommence around the country from next weekend.

The Leitrim senior championship is scheduled to begin next Saturday July 18th with the Roscommon and Monaghan championships scheduled to get underway from July 25.
