Two local authorities have been shortlisted in this year's Chambers Ireland Excellence in Government Awards.
The event, which is held annually, aims to recognise the work of local councils with Longford nominated in three categories and Leitrim shortlisted in two.
Longford Inclusive Fitness Trails Programme features in the Health and Wellbeing category for its inclusion of Irish Sign Language in tuition videos for outdoor exercise machines.
The Longford community alert scheme is shortlisted in the municipal district category while 'The Urban Horse Project' which teaches young people about horses and responsible horse ownership is also up for an award.
Included in the diversity and inclusion section is Leitrim's sense ability which aims to offer a positive library experience for people with sensory needs.
Leitrim County Council has also been nominated for its be fire safe at school project.
The winners will be announced on November 24 at an event in the Crown Plaza Hotel in Santry.
