New figures from the Covid hub now reveal that there has been a significant rise in Covid cases locally prior to the Bank Holiday.
In Longford, almost 600 cases of Covid were recorded across the three local electoral areas in the first two weeks of this month.
Longford town's LEA recorded 266 cases - with 100 in the north Longford M.D of Granard and 217 in Ballymahon's LEA.
North Roscommon recorded the highest number of Covid cases in the first two weeks of this month - with 378 cases reported in the Boyle LEA - resulting in a Covid rate of 1731.
321 cases were recorded in the wider Roscommon town LEA and 178 cases were recorded in the Roscommon - Athlone Municipal District.
Overall, 877 cases of Covid were recorded in County Roscommon in the first fortnight of this month.
In Leitrim, a total of 512 cases were recorded between the first and 14th of March.
The highest number of cases were recorded in the Carrick-on-Shannon electoral area, where 217 cases resulted in an incidence rate of 1,910 per 100,000 population - the highest in the region.
117 confirmed cases were also recorded in the Ballinamore M.D in the same two week period, with 178 in Manorhamilton's LEA.
The incidence rates are lower across the Northern Sound region, where only two LEAs are above the national average of 1,189 cases per 100,000.
The Monaghan LEA and the Cavan-Belturbet LEA is above the national average, with respective incidence rates of 1,410 and 1,472.
Elsewhere across Co Monaghan, Carrickmacross-Castleblayney is slightly below the national average, at 1,138, while the rate in Ballybay-Clones is 1,090.
In Co Cavan, Bailieborough-Cootehill and Ballyjamesduff are recording incidence rates below 1,000 per 100,000 population, at 995 and 977 respectively.
