Gardaí arrested two motorists over the weekend in the Shannonside region for significant road traffic offences. The Roads Policing Unit in Longford recorded a motorist travelling close to three times the speed limit. They detected the car travelling at 136 kilometres an hour in a 50km zone, and when stopped, the driver was unable to provide proof of insurance.
Meanwhile. a motorist in Roscommon is facing a court date after being arrested for drink driving. Gardaí stopped the vehicle after spotting an open bottle of wine on the front seat. Following tests, the driver was found to be 3 times over the legal limit. They were arrested and will come before the courts at a later date.
