Two Longford Businesses have launched plans for the installation of several thousand square metres of photovoltaic solar panels at their respective properties.
Separate planning applications have been submitted for the construction of the renewable energy infrastructure at Dunnes Stores on the Dublin road and Glennons Saw Mills at Kilnasavogue outside the town.
Better Value Unlimited Company have submitted an application to Longford County Planners for 1,776 square metres of solar panels on their main building roof.
Plans include the panels, mounting systems and all associated site works at the Dublin road site.
Meanwhile, Glennon Bros Timber Ltd hopes to install over 1000 square metres of solar panels on both their factory and all existing buildings at their facility off the N4.
The application includes plans for the 184.2 kilowatt panels and all associated site works at the major local company.
Longford planners will make their decision on both applications by the end of July.
