A man in his 50s has died after he was involved in a crash on the N12 at Knockaconny in Monaghan yesterday morning.
It happened at around quarter-past-eleven and the man's body was removed from the scene for a post mortem.
Two people who were in the other car involved were taken to Drogheda and Cavan Hospitals for treatment.
Their injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
Meanwhile Gardaí and emergency services attended the scene of a fatal single vehicle road traffic incident that occurred in the early hours of this morning, Sunday, 12th March 2023 on the R176 in Carlingford, Co.Louth.
The collision, involving a car, occurred shortly before 2.30am. The driver, a man aged in his 30s, later passed away from his injuries.
His body has since been removed to the mortuary at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital Drogheda. A post-mortem will take place in due course.
The road remains closed this morning with diversions in place. A technical examination of the scene will be made by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators.
