A U.K. based entrepreneur with strong Roscommon links has been awarded the Freedom of the City of London.
The prestigious honour was bestowed upon Orla Bance whose father Gerry Feeney was a native of Tulsk and a successful travel agent in London for many years.
Orla received the award at a ceremony in the Guild Hall on Friday evening for her work with the Livery Company of Constructors in the city.
Speaking to Shannonside FM Orla says she thrilled with the honour and is looking forward to herding sheep across the bridge in London in November.
"It's a ceremonial award really that you're nominated for, but the fabulous people who've been awarded it before, and very fittingly on International Women's Day and International Women's Week, we're allowed to bring the sheep over the bridge, and I joked with my uncle, Peter Feeney, who's still a farmer in Tulsk, that the sheep might just have to be slightly cleaner"
