Uisce Éireann says it's especially important that mains drinking water is not given to bottle-fed infants.

Following consultation with the HSE, Uisce Éireann has confirmed that the boil water notice has been lifted with immediate effect.

Uisce Eireann is scheduled to conduct urgent reservoir upgrade works in the area that will see service disruptions from 6 o'clock this evening to 6 o'clock the following evening.

The news came following a meeting of Uisce Eireann management with Fianna Fáil TD Joe Flaherty and local councillors, Pat O'Toole and Mick Cahill.

The utility is also advising that caution be taken when bathing children to ensure they do not swallow the water.

Repairs to a burst water main in Ballymahon may cause disruption to Ballymahon, Toome, Terlicken and surrounding areas.

The new pipework will significantly reduce leakage levels and put an end to disruption to the water supply due to bursts.
