Homes and businesses in South Leitrim are being urged to conserve water in order to protect supplies in the county. Uisce Eireann say following an increase in water usage by households and businesses supplied by the Carrick-on-Shannon Water Treatment Plant, customers are being asked to be mindful of their usage. The utility also say that high usage can lead to pressure reductions which can impact the supply to customers.
Spokesperson for Uisce Éireann, Peader Griffin, added that any reduction that customers can make in their usage can collectively result in significant supply improvements for all homes and businesses. People are being urged to fix dripping taps or leaking toilets in their homes, turn off the tap when brushing teeth or shaving and report any leaks to Uisce Eireann.
