It's after the devastation caused by Storm Darragh yesterday morning.

Uisce Eireann say homes and businesses in areas such as Cloonfad, Ballinlough and Loughglynn may be experiencing low pressure or water outages.

Uisce Eireann say following an increase in water usage by households and businesses supplied by the Carrick-on-Shannon Water Treatment Plant, customers are being asked to be mindful of their usage.

Cllr Garry Murtagh brought forward the motion at the most recent Longford County Council meeting.

Uisce Éireann says it's especially important that mains drinking water is not given to bottle-fed infants.

Following consultation with the HSE, Uisce Éireann has confirmed that the boil water notice has been lifted with immediate effect.

Uisce Eireann is scheduled to conduct urgent reservoir upgrade works in the area that will see service disruptions from 6 o'clock this evening to 6 o'clock the following evening.

The news came following a meeting of Uisce Eireann management with Fianna Fáil TD Joe Flaherty and local councillors, Pat O'Toole and Mick Cahill.
