A Ukrainian man living in Leitrim fears for his country following Vladimir Putin's announcement this morning.
The Russian President declared that reservists will be called up to the armed forces in a "partial mobilisation" move by security chiefs.
Ivan Torchavich who lives in Gorvagh says while there are queues to join the Ukrainian army he fears there will be a huge loss of life with the recruitment of around 300 thousand men and women to Russian forces.
Despite the heightened risk Ivan will travel to Ukraine tomorrow with humanitarian aid that was collected in Carrick-on-Shannon over recent weeks.
He says there's a sense of worry among his friends and family for what lies ahead in his native country.
''We don't know what could happen but it could be of big trouble with the loss of lives you know, but our relatives and friends, they said that they are all ready and ready for fight, they are waiting for them if when they come.''
